Red Flags Checklist — 7 Signs to Remove a Manufacturer From Your Shortlist

The list above is a starting point, not a verdict. These seven signs should remove any manufacturer — including the ones above — from your shortlist until they are resolved:

Remove the manufacturer until they fix:

  • Unverifiable certificates — no issuing-body report numbers, or numbers that don't resolve on the issuer's database.
  • Impossible COA consistency — every batch "perfect" and the manufacturer refuses third-party re-testing.
  • Sample ≠ production — no retained-sample system; the batch COA can't be traced to the batch you sampled.
  • Capacity that doesn't match reality — output claims inconsistent across pages or unsupported by any line documentation.
  • No logistics conversation — the supplier avoids loading plans and freight cost; logistics can be 30%+ of landed cost in this category.
  • No audit access — refuses a live video tour or on-site visit, despite shipping internationally.
  • Untraceable pricing — "too good to be true" pricing with no explanation of raw material origin or export tax treatment.

How to Choose and Verify a Cat Litter Supplier — 3 Steps Before You Commit

You don't need to travel to choose and verify a private label cat litter supplier. Three practical steps, in order:

What is the difference between OEM and private label cat litter manufacturing?

OEM manufacturing means the factory produces to your specification — formula, particle size, fragrance, packaging — and the product is sold under your brand. Private label is the commercial term for the same arrangement when the buyer owns the brand. How do I verify a cat litter factory's COA?

Check three things on every Certificate of Analysis: the batch number and production date must match the batch you sampled; the testing method must be stated (for example 105°C oven-dry for moisture); and if a third-party lab is claimed, the report number must resolve on the lab's accreditation database.
