Bentonite Cat Litter — Bulk Density & Container Loading Sheet
Jinan Silk Pet Technology Co., Ltd. · Internal reference document · Issued August 2026 · Values verified against batch TDS and third-party test reports
1. Bulk Density by Material (reference values)
| Material | Bulk density (loose) | Source |
| Bentonite (sodium-modified) | 0.95 g/cm³ = 950 g/L = 950 kg/m³ | Factory batch TDS |
| Tofu / pea fiber | 597 g/L = 0.60 g/cm³ | CTI third-party test report |
| Cassava / tapioca | 0.60–0.65 g/cm³ = 600–650 g/L | Factory batch TDS |
Bulk density varies with particle size, moisture and compaction (loose vs. tapped). The values above are reference points, not a fixed promise for every batch — each shipment carries a batch COA with the measured value and test method.
2. Unit Conversion Reference
| From → To | Factor |
| g/cm³ → kg/L | × 1 (1 g/cm³ = 1 kg/L) |
| g/cm³ → kg/m³ | × 1,000 |
| g/L → kg/m³ | × 1 (1 g/L = 1 kg/m³) |
| kg/m³ → g/cm³ | ÷ 1,000 |
Example: 950 g/L = 0.95 kg/L = 950 kg/m³ = 0.95 g/cm³. Same litter, three units — the conversion is why specifications must state the unit.
3. Container Loading Estimates (calculation basis)
| Container | Usable volume (approx.) | Bentonite 950 g/L | Tofu 597 g/L | Cassava 625 g/L |
| 20ft GP | ~28 m³ | ~26.6 t (weight-limited) | ~16.7 t (volume-limited) | ~17.5 t (volume-limited) |
| 40ft HQ | ~67 m³ | ~26–28 t (weight-limited) | ~40 t (volume-limited) | ~41.9 t (volume-limited) |
Estimation disclaimer: these are calculation-based figures (volume × density), not loading guarantees. Actual load depends on bag type, pallet configuration, moisture at loading and carrier weight limits. Public MOQ reference: bentonite 26 t / 20ft (weight-limited), plant-based 18 t per SKU / 20ft (volume-limited), silica gel 38 t / 40ft. Final container plan is confirmed per order.
4. Why Density Changes the Buying Decision
- Weight-limited vs volume-limited: bentonite fills the container by weight first; tofu and cassava fill it by volume first. A lower density does not automatically mean lower landed cost per unit of use.
- Landed cost per litre of use: compare price per litre (or per scoop), not only per kg, when density differs between suppliers.
- Moisture drift: plant-based litters are hygroscopic and gain weight in long transit — the density at loading differs from density at destination. Confirm the measurement point.
- Loose vs tapped: always ask which method the density figure uses; tapped density is higher and is not comparable to loose density.
5. Requesting Batch-Specific Values
